What farther space travel requires.

The ambition to transition humanity from a single-planet species to a multi-planetary civilization is constrained primarily by the energy and cost required for mass movement beyond Earth’s gravity, the limited local availability of key resources, and the environmental hostility of extraterrestrial surfaces. While classical chemical rockets have enabled initial access to orbit, their fundamental inefficiency precludes large-scale construction, industry, or settlement in space. Advances in materials science, orbital mechanics, autonomous systems, and biotechnology, however, offer feasible alternatives for overcoming these bottlenecks.
